The Day the World Got Smaller

As I sit here, the clock has just struck midnight.  It is now officially September 11th, 2011.  I can remember, and will never forget, the day that changed all of our lives, none of them for the better.  My youngest son was born just the day before on the tenth.  That means that the boy has not known but one day of his entire life without the shadow of terrorism and war looming over everything since that ill fated day ten years ago.  I can remember going to pick him and my wife up from the hospital.  I knew what had happened but was not prepared for the chaos that would ensue, even in our small Midwest town.  The gas stations were running dry as cars lined the streets and people panicked.  I remember watching those planes hit.  I remember the disbelief in  my wifes eyes as thousands of innocent lives were snuffed out before our eyes on the hospitals' T.V. screen.  I remember we both cried.....I remember.
To those who have lost loved ones during 9/11 our hearts go out to you, and let it be known that while the world goes on, and seems ever so much smaller after that day, we will never forget.
